Asian Living in HCM city

This time I would like to introduce to you another shop that sells silk products. Located just a block away from the famous Ben Thanh Market, this shop is named Asian Living. Although the name is common, but it well portrays what you could expect to find inside - everything about artistry Asian fashion and home accessories.

What really attracted me in this shop are the beautiful silk quilts hanged in the shop. The shop assistant told me that each of these quilts cost above USD100. The price sound a bit costly, but don’t forget that this is made with silk.

I love patchwork quilt very much and have recently bought one “made in china” cotton quilt…the price is relatively cheap and the quality is cheap too hehe. After the second washes, I found there are small holes here and there. I believe this silk quilts are better judging by their material and quality. I supposed they are more comfortable too as compared to the normal white quilt especially during a warmer season.

Other interesting items that can be found in this shop include the elegance embroidery bed-skirts and wall hanging. What I like about these items are the blending of the ancient Asian into the modern taste. Both the bed-skirts and wall hanging look so classic but yet they could fit fairly well into the contemporary style.

I asked for their name card from the shop assistant and I found their website address printed on it. If you are interested, you could visit them at www.asian-living.com

Price/ Value for $$$:

Although is a bit expensive, but I think is well worth it for the high quality that you get. I was told that most of the items are handmade.

Location:

125, Nam Ky Khoi Nghia Street, District 1, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam

(They also have branches in Nguyen Hue and Ton That Thiep Street; both are located in the immediate surrounds)

Yoong Kie Seafood Restaurant- Genting Highland

Be careful n check prices especially when ordering fish dishes……….This is not the first time we hear of this type of complaint and it won’t be the last as we are all trusting people who don’t normally ask about food prices before we order…………some say ‘pai seh’ to ask price and “if you need to ask the price means you can’t afford to eat the dish” .” if no money don’t order expensive food”……..I still think it is best to ask for the price if not sure to avoid such expensive bill……I got this an email from my friend for their great experience with Yoong Kie. :P

Dear All…………

Last week, I brought my guests to Genting Highlands. After a day ‘above the clouds’, we decided to have dinner at the Gohtong Jaya area on the way down. We ordered some dishes and decided to have a steamed fish as well. So the captain recommended ’sultan fish’.
The steamed fish came. HALF, and plain steamed. Good & fine.

But when the bill came, it came to over $500 !! We were shocked !! We were told the fish was 1.4kg ( & please bear in mind, its ONLY HALF A FISH ) at RM 320 per kg! RM 420!! This was daylight robbery. We were not informed by the Captain that a kg of the Sultan fish would cost us RM 320 and there was also no signs of such pricings anywhere in the restaurant.

When we checked with the cashier, she told us, its correct. Of cos, it was our mistake for not asking the price first. Anyway, on the way back to KL, we stopped at Unique Seafood,PJ, where one can choose a live fish. The most expensive Soon Hock swimming in the tank is RM135 per kilo. Asked them about the Sultan fish, it is going for RM100 a kilo

Will be sending this letter to the newspapers, Tourism board, etc etc; and friends, pls pass on to all on yr email list.
